Macaron Maker / Pastry Cook

We the Birds is seeking a focused, passionate Macaron Maker/Pastry Cook to join our growing team! This is an exceptional role for someone who is looking for a challenging (and fun) opportunity to master the art of the French macaron. The Macaron Maker will work directly with the owner to receive hands-on training and be given autonomy to experiment with new and exotic flavors. Looking for great piping skills and experience with or the desire to learn the art of the French macaron. 

Compensation:

Part-Time/Full-Time: This position offers flexible hours and competitive hourly pay (DOE).

Externship: Will provide school credits and potential opportunity for a permanent position.

Required Skills:

Hands-on training will be provided on the job but the following skills would be ideal:

  • Passion for baking (love of macarons)
  • Piping and decorating skills
  • Proven pastry or baking experience preferred
  • Great attention to detail
  • Artistic ability and creativity
  • Working knowledge of baking ingredients, measurements, and sanitization procedures
  • Ability to work with a team to develop and execute creative concepts
  • Natural drive to create quality, handcrafted, custom goods
  • Ability to wear multiple hats and grow in a start-up environment

Preferred Experience:

  • Basic pastry, culinary, or restaurant experience
  • Certificate in culinary arts, pastry-making, baking or relevant field
