D Magazine's 10 Most Stylish

Ummm... somehow our names are on this list...

I honestly don't know how the hell we managed to get our names on this list, but this is easily the biggest honor we have been bestowed since starting WE THE BIRDS a couple years ago. To some it may seem like a kind of superficial award... and on some level maybe it is... but since we make our living as style bloggers, it means a lot to be noticed for our personal style and aesthetic. Thank you so much D Magazine for this incredible honor.

For this shoot, we were asked to select a white blouse from Forty Five Ten and style it with our own clothes. Natalie got to the rack before me and threw a hanger at me saying "this one is definitely yours"... She was right... I didn't even try another shirt on. This Palmer Harding asymmetrical shirt was the one for me — a dramatic high-low silhouette. I wanted to play up the high-low aspect and let the shirt do most of the talking, so I paired it with denim shorts and (my favorite) denim boots.

Natalie, per usual, tried on many different shirts and went back and forth before landing on this one. She really wanted to wear these feather-hemmed jeans and this Sacai layered pleat shirt did the trick. We liked the way the destructed jeans quietly contradicted the sweetness of the ruffled blouse.
